Whip Check System

Whip Checks are a retention system designed to stop hoses that have become disconnected from a piece of equipment or through catastrophic failure.

Keeping the Workplace Safe

Whip Checks comprise of two components. First, is the hose safety clamp, the second is a safety cable that connects to the equipment using a high tensile steel bolt.

There are two different ways to secure the cables to the equipment. The first is by using a bolt which is fitted to a Code 61 or a Code 62 flange. The second is to attach the cable using steel eyelet/ mounting bracket and a high tensile steel bolt to secure it directly to the equipment.

PIRTEK Whip Checks can be used in multiple applications especially in production or manufacturing facilities where safety is a critical component in everyday operations.

Selection of Whip Check for Code 61 and Code 62 (Figure 1)

Select the Whip Checks system according to the diameter of the SAE flange thread ensuring that the maximum operating pressure of the hose and fitting complies with the pressure rating indicated in the Selection Guide.

Selection of Whip Check for Multiple Applications (Figure 2)

The Whip Checks retention system is used when no coupling system for the nipple or SAE flange is available; in this case the hose shall be retained by coupling it to the equipment ensuring that the maximum operating pressure of the hose and fitting complies with the pressure rating indicated in the Selection Guide.

Choice of Clamp (Figure 3)

Select the clamp with maximum and minimum clamp diameters as indicated in the Selection Guide.
